O'Toole, Mary Lourdes "Lou" H.

Mary Lourdes "Lou" H. O'Toole, nee Hasten, age 92, of Glenview, Ill., beloved wife, mother, and grandmother to 17, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, surrounded by her family. Devoted to her family and extended family, Mary Lou was a life-long artist and painter who attended the School of the Art Institute and who volunteered with many organizations and causes during her life. She was an active parishioner and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glenview and earlier at Queen of All Saints parish in Sauganash and was also active in many community and school organizations including the Sauganash Garden Club, the Queen of All Saints School, and the Loyola Academy Mothers Club and Ramble fundraiser. Mary Lou was born Mary Lourdes Hasten Feb. 11, 1933, in Chicago to the late Erwin J. Hasten and Frances S. Hasten and was the youngest of five. She was the loving wife of the late Honorable John J. O'Toole; beloved mother of John (the late Cynthia B.) O'Toole Jr., Mark T. (Amy) O'Toole, Matthew H. (Cheryl) O'Toole, Patrick L. (Elizabeth) O'Toole and Margaret M. Herman; devoted grandmother of Shannon, Garrett, Ryan, Charlotte, Justin, Isabelle, Agnes, Joseph, Henry, Vivienne, Margaret, Grace, James, Kathryn, John Thomas (JT), Victoria and Luke. Mary Lou is survived by her loving husband Gerard C. Hillsman and his children Mary, Jean, Richard, Peter and Stephen, their spouses and many grand- and great-grandchildren. Mary Lou loved traveling with Gerry, playing tennis and golf, and spending time with family.

Visitation 11:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 1775 Grove St., Glenview, Illinois. Private burial Monday, August 11 at All Saints Cemetery.
