Mary Margaret "Peggy" Hanley, nee Stenson, 84, of Niles, formerly of the Westside of Chicago. Faithful wife of 63 years to Raymond L Hanley Jr. Most loving, one of a kind mother to Raymond L Hanley III., Jeanne (Douglas) McDougall, John (Colleen), and Matthew (Maureen) Hanley. Adored and best Gram to Tara (Ryan) Meyer, Joseph, Liam, Bridie, and Marty Hanley, and loving Granny to Ford, Declan and Winnie Peggy. Caring sister to Noreen (late Pat) Kelly, Joseph (Carol), Marty (Mary), and Kevin (Maggie) Stenson. Favorite and adored aunt, cousin and friend to many. Pumpkin, Mom, Gram, Granny, Peggy, Peg, Peggy O, Grandma Peg, a woman with the biggest heart. How lucky we all were to have loved, been loved, and have known her. Peggy was fun-loving and social, always happiest at a family gathering, a night out with the girls or her siblings, a trip to Florida, or proudly organizing a Milwaukee Irish Fest weekend. She loved playing cards, especially Madman Rummy. She loved all things Irish and was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage-especially her red hair and her favorite color, green. Above all else, Peggy adored her children and her family. She treasured every opportunity to stop by for an afternoon visit with her children and grandchildren, knowing that a "quick visit" would almost always turn into hours together. Her happy place was sitting outside-whether on the front porch of Pittsburgh Ave., the back porches of Bay Drive and Niles, or the patio she so proudly enjoyed at her Interlaken, Lake Geneva condo. Peggy was truly one of a kind, and her unexpected loss is being felt deeply by all who knew and loved her. Visitation Friday, January 16, from 3:00pm - 8:00 pm at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 Central Rd, at Northwest Hwy, Mt. Prospect, IL 60056. Funeral: Visitation at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30. We will go in procession from the funeral home to St. John Brebeuf church in Niles for a 12:00 pm Mass.
