Connor, Mary Jane (Sheridan) loving mother to 11 children, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to 17 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Reached for the Hand of God early Sunday morning, March 26, exactly 1 month after her 87th birthday. Beloved wife of the late William S. Connor Jr., cherished daughter of Edward A. Sheridan and Gladys (Dupre) Godman, and loving sister of the late Virginia (Sheridan) Henning. Mary Jane lived in Glenview for 53 years with her growing family. Tragedy struck the family in 1970 and was felt most deeply by Mary Jane when her son, Patrick (whose twin Michael died shortly after birth) was killed in Vietnam. Mary Jane was an avid reader her entire life and found the perfect occupation as a proofreader for Scott Foresman in Glenview, where she worked for many years, retirng at the age of 72. In late years, Mary Jane traveled the world, visiting Ireland, England, Germany, Austria, Holland, France and Italy. She was thrilled to hear her eldest son sing at a High Mass at St. Peter Basilica in Rome, and joined an audience with Pope John Paul. Mary Jane was a long term breast cancer survivor. The cancer never slowed her pace of travel and enjoying life. Her greatest love was to over endulge her 17 grandchildren. She had a keen eye, a sharp Irish wit, class, stamina and a strong faith in God, having been a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Glenview for 53 years. She is survived by her loving children, Steve (Peggy) Connor, Tom (Sharon) Connor, Kathy (Jerry) Weiland, Kevin Connor, Maureen Connor, Colleen (Ken) Rubo, Candy Weiss, Sheila (Mike) Kellet and Sean (Lupe) Connor; her grandchildren, great-granddaughter, four nieces, a nephew and several cousins. God bless "Mary Jane". At first I didn't recognize "Mary Connor", but then I figured it out. My memory is not so good anymore, but I do remember Gladys driving me up to Glenview to play with my cousins and occasionally mow the lawn. Mary Jane was an angel then and is certainly an Angel now.

Mary Jane and I were best friends ("BF's") since the second grade.
For 81 years, through grade school, our high school sorority, the war years, marriage, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren we stayed in touch through good old fashioned letter writing.
I will miss her and pray for her until it's my time to see her again in heaven.
My condolences to the whole family,
Jean (LeVert) Root

I am very sad to hear of my Aunt Mary Jane's passing. She was a special person, and a very, very special sister-in-law to our Mom. It's hard to have both parents be gone; we will be keeping you all in our prayers. Take care.

Mary Jane was my cousin. She provided considerable emotional support to our family, especially to my mother and Mary Jane's aunt, Hester, and to my father, David Lewis, in the last years before their deaths. While I was away living in California she became their closest, best and most solicitous friend. She was a great lady and always much appreciated by the Cutchins.

My mother, Betty Todd, is Mary Jane's cousin. Mom always spoke fondly of Mary Jane. She tried to call her at least once a month from Maryland. Mary Jane and Tom came to visit Mom several times over the years. Mom feels strongly that Mary Jane's prayers helped her to recover from her two bouts with cancer. She will be sorely missed, although Mom says that Mary Jane will be an angel on her shoulder.
