I am Mary’s godson and am sorry that I am unable to attend her funeral services in Chicago, or as she used to say ‘Chicargo’. Aunt Mary was my mother, Catherine’s, older sister and came to Boston in the early 1950’s. She stayed with relatives in (of course) the Irish section of South Boston. Once she got settled in a job, she sent money back to Ireland to help my mother join her in the US. My mother emigrated and married a native Bostonian. It follows that without that generous gesture, I would not be here today.
I want to express my condolences to Maureen, Bartley, Jim and the girls. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Mary, you will be missed at the early morning wsac. It was an honor for my wife Rhonda and I to have known you. You are now happy, joyous and free. God speed on your new journey.
