Mary Ciecko Obituary

Grace, and all of Mary and Hank's family. Every so often in this life, circumstances bring strangers together. In my case, 35+ years ago, the Cieckos visited my office in Chicago when their long-time family doctor retired. He had directed them to me. Fate, happy accident, whichever, but we hit it off from the get-go, or first tee shot Hank might have said. It isn't that often when you very quickly feel extremely comfortable in the company of people you have just met.
That says volumes about how natural, friendly, humorous, and just plain decent a couple I met back then. My impression never changed. It was hard losing Hank when we all did and this loss is as tough. Losing family and folks who became your friends so easily stings. Speaking for myself and on behalf of all the ladies who worked at both offices who got to know Mary, sincere sympathies/condolences to all of you. The staff would tell you that it was both a pleasure and a privilege to have been able to work for and joke around with Mary for as long as circumstances permitted.
My sense of personal loss is real and I am sorry not to be in a position to physically pay my respects to you. My thoughts are with you. May God help you with His strength and allow you all quickly to find solace at this time of sorrow.
