Mary Brockschmidt Obituary

Brockschmidt, Mary Ellen Age 94, a resident of Valparaiso and formerly of Versailles, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011. She was born on November 14, 1917 in Newport, Kentucky, the daughter of Albert and Margaret Reedy. Mary Ellen was married to Alvin J. Brockschmidt on July 1, 1950 in Newport and he preceded her in death on April 5, 1989. Mary Ellen had worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Bill Jensen for 10 years. She was a former member of St. Bridget's and a current member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Mary Ellen attended Saint Agnes Center and her great joys were reading, cooking, and taking care of her family. Mary Ellen is survived by her loving family; daughters Mary Crisman, Versailles, Ellen (Randy) Polk, Valparaiso, Celeste (Paul) Rose, Huancayo, Peru, Jane (Karl) Feldhaus, Holton, grandchildren; Michael (Jennifer) Crisman, Kathy (Jon) Boyd, Daniel (Kelli) Rose, Kathy Ellen (Daniel) Matsuda, James Rose, Joseph Rose, Grace Rose, Andrea Rose, Lisa Raab, Zachary Raab, and Jonathan Raab, great-grandchildren Aiden Boyd, Vera Rose, Andy Matsuda, and Katie Matsuda, her sister Sister Celeste Reedy, Nazareth, Kentucky, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin Brockschmidt, brothers Father John Reedy, and Albert Reedy, son-in-law Bill Crisman, and grandson Andrew Rose. A visitation for Mary Ellen Brockschmidt will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with a funeral service at 1:00 pm with Father Michael Hoffman, officiating. Burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery. Memorials in Mary Ellen's memory may be made to the Saint Agnes Center.
