Marvin G. Jerstad
79 of Elmwood Park, Illinois passed away November 23, 2022. Marv is survived by his wife, Lisa (née Stephany) of 37 years and two daughters Shannon (Troy) Johnson, and Dawn Beltz. Proud Poppa of grandchildren Matthew (Brittany), Kaitlin, and Nicholas Johnson, Jennifer Kozlowski and Miranda Beltz. Loving Poppa of his great-grandchildren Kayden (Moose), Bennett (Bull) Johnson, and Ella Hill. Also survived by his Nephews Douglas and Russell Peterson and Great Niece Mary Peterson. Brother-in-law David Stephany, Nephews Jason and Jordan Stephany, Sister-in-law Carol Stephany and Niece Daria Stephany.
Mr. Jerstad was born in Chicago Illinois in 1943 to the late Edwin and Elisabeth (née Peterson) Jerstad. He was also preceded in death by his Brother Gunnar Jerstad, Sister Gunvor "Gundi" Peterson and Brother-in-law Pete Peterson, In-Laws Stuart and Lois Stephany.
Marv enlisted in the Army in 1960 and after a short stint began his career at The Milwaukee Road Railroad. Mr. Jerstad became a proud union member of Operating Engineer's Local 399 and moved on to become an Engineer at The Chicago Sun-Times for 40+ years. He moved into the Chief Engineer's position and then Property Manager for several buildings before retiring in 2012. Marv also served as an Auxiliary Police Officer with the Elmwood Park Police Department for several years.
In addition, he was a life-time member of the Harley Owners Group belonging to the local Oak Park Chapter, and Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club belonging to Chapter ILXI for over 35 years as well as the Chicago Abate Chapter.
Mr. Jerstad spent many years traveling the country with his buddies and wife on his Harley Davidson and loved his many trips to Sturgis and Daytona Bike Weeks. He has now joined buddies, Bill, Dave, and Tommy where they can ride their Harley's together once again. All that knew Marv loved his wicked sense of humor and devout devotion to his family and friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at The Elms Funeral Home in Elmwood Park, Illinois. Time Of Gathering at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the funeral home with Services at 11:00 a.m. Entombment at Mount Emblem Cemetery.
