Martin Mongan Obituary

Rest in peace Mr. Mongan. My last memory of you was your passion for saving Quigley South. Thanks for your contribution in making me the man of service ---I've become.

Martin Mongan was an amazing teacher and a great grandpa.I will miss him dearly.Love him with all my heart.

May you rest in peace Mr. Mongan. You were a shining example of Christ-like love at Quigley. Your classes were a joy, and you taught me the importance of listening carefully. I (and many others like me) were blessed to be lucky enough to have you as a teacher.

Dear Beth, We're very sorry about your father. Bill told us what a great teacher he was at Quigley. It's quite a tribute to him that you've followed in his footsteps. Please keep a happy memory of him in your heart to help you through this sad time.

Marty was among the best teachers I had at Quigley South. His genuine interest and concern for his students is something I will always treasure. He tought me much about life through literature and though his untold hours working with us on the 1966 Yearbook. He will be greatly missed, but I know he has attained the reward his faith has always promised.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Mr. Mongan was so quiet and dignified. He coaxed the best from me in my 3rd year English class. My deepest sympathy to the family. He really made a difference. QPS class of '71.

Marty touched so many lives in countless ways. It was my privilege to serve on the Quigley faculty with him in those pioneering days at Quigley South. Celebrated his marriage to beautiful Rita with the whole faculty and shared many cherished moments with them. Now they are together with the Lord.
My prayers for them and the whole family.

Marty Mongan was an early influencer for me. He was an excellent teacher and great example of living the faith. May he rest in peace.

Marty Mongan was one of the finest human beings God Willed into this world.

As a Quigley professor, Marty ranked as one of the "Titans" --- the term we olde-time alumni use to identify those faculty members, ordained or layperson, who made daily habit of exercising a holy professionalism.

As a classmate in Quigley's class of '55, I remember your great athletic abilities and delightful personality. Your dedication to the church of Chicago and to the seminary in particular was profound. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Marty was a quality teacher and human being . . . he was one of the people who influenced me to go into HS English Teaching as a profession. He will be sorely missed. Our condolences to the entire Mongan family . . . .

Marty (Mr. Mongan) taught me English when I was Quigley Senior. He possessed an amazing world of knowledge; more importantly, he lived an intense desire for us to learn the worthy content. He would do whatever it would take to pass it on. I vividly remember him spending time after time attempting to understand poetry I'd written - outside of class - and helping me make each verse express much more vividly the message I held within....Thank you, Marty, for helping me and countless others find our voice - in education and in faith. May you rest in peace!

We were saddened to hear of your Father's passing. He was a wonderful friend to us. We will always remember our days in Diaconate and the good times we shared with your Dad and Mom. We were Blessed to know them.

He was a great Man, he baptized both my children and said the Mass at my sister Molly's funeral. He was a great friend to our family and he will be missed. He made a great impact on a lot of people's lives.

The Pechloff family in St. Louis send their deepest condolances to the Mongan family on the passing of Marty. Marty and Bob had a special friendship while working at Quigley South. Marty did a wonderful job as the Freshman soccer coach at Quigley and Bob and Marty would still keep in touch recently talking about the "Quigley good old days"!!! Marty is now in heaven with Rita and we know he is smiling down on his loved ones and happy to be with Rita once again. Marty was an excellent English teacher at Quigley and touched the lives of many Quigley South students. He was dedicated, committed, and most of all a wonderful man, we will miss him dearly....
