Dear Higgins Family...I worked with Marie at Marquette many years ago, she trained me behind the teller line. I will remember always her smart wit and love of life...and the love she had for her family. I will keep you in my prayers during this difficult time.

I had no idea Marie was so ill. I worked with her a long time ago..I foundly remember all of the fun and joy she brought. She loved her family so very much and Shiloh. I will always be grateful that I knew her. My deepest sympathy to her family!

As an angel among us this world could not possibly have given her what she deserved. She needed to go to another plain to get the reward she earned for everything she was.
She fought with the strength and endurance of a heavy weight champ and went the full 15 rounds and then some. Through it all she never let it bring her down. She was as stubborn as the day is long. If she wanted something bad enough there was no one or nothing on this planet that could stop her. For example, despite having eye surgery that morning she wouldn't let that stop her from coming to see her new Granddaughter the day she was born.
She was a loving, caring, and dedicated wife, mother and Grandmother. She was there through thick and thin, good and bad. She could make the best of a bad situation and make you smile in your darkest moment. No matter what she made sure we got what we needed and wanted. If it was possible (and sometimes impossible) she would make it happen. As a wife she stood by her husband through extreme lows and her love never wavered. Love like that is rare nowadays.
We are better people for knowing her. Stories of her and memories of her resound fondly in our hearts. Memories of good times with her fill my heart as I write this. I remember every Christmas break playing board games and building puzzles with her at the kitchen table. When we were sick and stayed home from school she would ride her bike to the video store and get horror movies to watch with us. I remember her waking me up at 3AM on a school night to watch Kiss meets the phantom of the park with her.
She never judged which helped a lot with some of the people I brought into her life. She taught us right from wrong and allowed us to make our own decisions. She always welcomed everyone despite their appearances or problems. She was there for them as she was there for us.
I struggle to write this because there is so much I want to say. I was lucky to have her as a mom.
A GREAT MOM – NONE BETTER!!

Mom, i miss you so much. I am trying to be strong and remember you are no longer in pain but my heart is selfish and wishes you were still here. You were the most amazing person in my life you were my bestfriend. I feel like a huge piece of me is gone. I take comfort in knowing that you are with all the loves we have lost and I know they showing you the way. Make sure you get your chinese and all the smokes you can. Know that you were the best mom a girl could ask for. You will forever be in our hearts till we meet again. Love you always and forever.
