My heart and prayers are with you, Luis, and the entire family during this time of dealing with the loss of Dora. I have very fond memories of growing up in Los Fresnos and I still call it home. The trips to the grocery store were some of my greatest memories of life in Los Fresnos. Dora was never without a friendly smile and cheerful greetings. Dora and Luis were always two of the most caring and compassionate people I encountered in life. Your friendship and compassion was cherished by my parents, Herb and Eileen, during our years in Los Fresnos and for all the years after we left there in 1963. May God bless Luis and the entire family with comfort in knowing that being reunited with Dora will come again someday.

Dear Luis,

In most TV shows and movies, the standard salutation is "sorry for your loss". This in no way says enough when referring to your loss of Dora. She was a kind and gracious lady who had more class accidently than most people have on purpose. When Ruth and I first met you and Dora several years ago at a reunion of our Korean War militry unit, the 728th Military Police Battalion, you being assigned to HQ Co. and I to A Co. during the war, we did not know each other as our companies were located miles apart in Korea. However, when we met you both, Ruth and I were taken with your genuine friendliness and affability. Later, when you hosted a reunion of the 728th in Brownsville, Dora was an ever present and charming hostess. She was, to put it mildly, a class act. We will both miss her. To you, we say God bless you and yours. We know in our hearts he has already blessed Dora, and so, our salutation to you, dear friend, is, "soldier on". With love and genuine sympathy to you, Irene and Edna.

Dearest Luis, Irene, and Edna,

I was deeply saddened to hear of Dora's passing; she was such a great lady.
Luis, I met you and Dora when I was a new bride, many years ago. You were both so kind and helpful to us as we started our lives, and I will always remember those days fondly. As I entered my professional career with LFCISD, she was there to offer suggestions, and supportive encouragement to me and many other beginning teachers; she was such an outstanding role model for so many of the young women in Los Fresnos. I'm sure it was because she so loved our little town and all of its people. She touched SO many lives...and Los Fresnos will never be the same without her.
You and the girls will be in my thoughts and prayers, and I will always value your thoughtfulness and kindness.
May God bless you with the knowledge that He is taking very loving care of her until you can be together again.

We grieve and it is no exaggeration at all to say that the entire community grieves with you, the Romero family, at this heartfelt time. Dora gave so so much to so many through her longterm selfless service as a LFCISD trustee, as a businesswoman, as a St. Cecilia parishioner, an ardent campaigner, a loving wife, mother and more. Dora's spirit will forever be within the Los Fresnos community she loved so dearly. Now her spirit has moved onto Paradise to be duly rewarded for her superior service.

Luis and family,
I am sure that words can not express how you might be feeling, but be assure that Dora is smiling down on you today and wanting you to be assured that she will never leave you. She will forever be alive in your hearts.
She was my role model when I worked at Las Yescas School. She was a Board Member when I was a Teacher's Aide in the late 60's and the 70's. I will always remember her cheerful Smile, will Mannered ways, and stunning wardrobe. Always giving encouragement and approval of you.
Later in Life we shared the roof of the same Office Building on Ocean Blvd. I will always treasure those memories of seeing her and you, Luis, on a daily basis.
Dora inspired me to be a better person for my community.
The last words I spoke with her were at a famiy gathering at my Brother's house two years ago; shortly after the loss of my Husband. She was so kind and humble when she gave me her condolence.
My prayers go out to you.
