Margaret McPike Obituary

McPike, Margaret O'Rourke

Margaret O'Rourke McPike, age 90, passed away November 23. She will be dearly missed by husband John "Tony" McPike, her children Tom, Daniel and Joanne, 14 grand children, 4 great grand children and many nieces and nephews. Two sons Stephen and Brian preceded her in death. Margaret graduated from Indiana University in 1956, moved to Chicago and began employment with Marshall Field and Co. She quickly became the firm's youngest floor manager at the Evanston store John often bragged that she would have been the store's CEO had he not married her 3 years later. After raising five children in Northbrook, she returned to a working career with 5 years managing the gift shop at Glenbrook hospital. She then spent 20 years working with John at their investment management firm. Margaret was an avid traveler having visited all 50 state capitals, most of Europe's capitals and many capital cities in the Far East. She was always ready for her next adventure. Her greatest love was travel, spending time with grandchildren and looking for more great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 9:15 am until time of the Mass at 10 am at St. Norbert & Our Lady of the Brook Parish, 1809 Walters Ave., Northbrook. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Northbrook. Funeral information 847-998-1020.
