McElroy, Margaret Humes Tucker "Peg" Age 95 of River Forest; beloved wife of the late Ernest Edward Tucker and the late Joseph McElroy; devoted mother of Barbara (Joseph) Philipps, Margaret Leigh Tucker and Ernest (Elizabeth Kaufmann) Tucker; cherished grandmother of Leigh Ann (Bob) Dolan, Busy Philipps (Marc Silverstein), Travis and Cameron Tucker; adoring great-grandmother of Birdie Silverstein and Josie Dolan; loving sister of Barbara (the late John) Cook and Thomas I. (Helga) Humes; dear aunt of many nieces and nephews; loving daughter of the late Thomas Irvin and Margaret Humes. She was born in Hartford, CT on October 7, 1917. She moved to Oak Park, IL in 1927 and has been an area resident since then. She attended St. Edmund School. Peg was a graduate of Oak Park - River Forest High School and the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She earned a Masters Degree in Library Science from Rosary College (now Dominican University). She was on the faculty of Oak Park-River Forest High School. Of her many affiliations she was most proud of her long membership in The Daughters of the American Revolution and the Infant Welfare Society. Among the many hobbies she enjoyed singing and tap dancing. Visitation Thursday, June 13th, 3 to 9 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Prayers Friday, June 14th 9:45 a.m. to St. Edmund Church for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Rainbow Hospice are appreciated.
