Margaret Mathias Obituary

Mathias, Margaret "Peg" M. Our Loving mother, Margaret "Peg" M. Mathias, age 88 of Naperville, formerly of the Chicago land area. Peacefully passed away, Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. She is reunited with her beloved late husband Bill of 66 years. She was born April 6, 1923 in Chicago, IL. Peg is survived by her loving children: James Robert (Mary) Mathias, Donna (Curt) Sherman, David (Linda) Mathias, Jodi Mathias, and Margaret (John) Culkeen. Her adoring grandchildren who knew her as their "Nanny" and "Granny", Tim, Colleen, Courtney, Sean, Heather, Jenny, Brion, Matthew, Morgan, Jillian, Alyssa, Johnny, Kevin, and her special great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Cortney, Caley, Cole, Christopher, and number 6 on the way. Sister of: Marie "Teese" (the late John) Hilan. Preceded in death by her parents: James and Margaret Lamb, brothers: William and Paul Lamb. Peg was a WAVE nurse in the US Navy during WWII. She later went on to work as a nurse in several hospitals. She finished with 20 years of service for Illinois Bell. For those who prefer, memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Attn. Tribute Department, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Visitation: Friday, June 17, 2011 4:00-7:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, June 18, 2011 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Rd., Naperville, IL 60563. My children and I had wonderful times with Peg and Bill filled with laughter and friendship. Peg had a twinkle in her eyes and a ready smile. She was a special lady.
