Sister Macarius was my 8th grade math and religion teacher at St. Laurence Elementary School. She was the BEST math teacher I've ever had. She was also my family’s dear friend. My mother and I visited her and Sister Catherine many times after St. Laurence Elementary School closed. I will always remember her invigorating laughter – it filled a room and was extremely contagious. She taught me and my brother (who was her student 4 years after she taught me) so much about making learning fun!
GOD BLESS HER SOUL!

Sr. Macarius taught junior high at St. Laurence while I was pastor and had the respect and cooperation of her students as she taught them very well.
May the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whose Religious Order she belonged, welcome her into Heaven

My sincerest condolences to the Kuehn family and to Sister Catherine. Sister Macarius will always be remembered by me as a wonderful math teacher who instilled a love of learning. At Holy Cross Elementary School where she taught back in the 70's, the students referred to her as Big Mac, but never to her face. I saw her again just a few years ago and found out that she was still teaching math to eigth graders at St Mary of the Lake, the school where my my niece is now in second grade. I will bet she is in heaven right now teaching algebra to the angels. Again my sincerest condolences to the Kuehn family and to Sister Catherine.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are some of the family members of Sr. Catherine Hinchy (Sr. Mae) and I can only tell you we will all miss Sr. Mac. We didn't get together often but she was always included in family gatherings when Sr. Mae was invited. She was a wonderful person and I know you and the parishiners at St. Agatha's and Our Lady of the West Side will miss her. We all lost someone special.
