Mitchell, Lyman L. 93, resident of Wilmette for 54 years. Mr. Mitchell was born in Sioux Falls, SD and grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA. He received his undergraduate and law school degrees from the University of Iowa and was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Mr. Mitchell served in WWII in the Army Intelligence Special Services in London, England. He was a partner in the law firm of Chapman of Cutler in Chicago for over 30 years. Mr. Mitchell was an active member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Evanston, an alderman in Evanston. President of the Wilmette Baseball Association, and was also a member of the Wilmette Lion's Club. Husband of Janet Larrabee Mitchell of 69 years. Father of Randy and Jeff Mitchell, grandfather of four and great-grandfather of eight. Service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Savior, Clemont, IA 52135. Info: Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home, 847-251-8200.
