Lydia Cebular Obituary

Cebular, Lydia

Lydia Cebular passed away on December 24, 2021 at the age of 62. Her 2 year battle with lung cancer was one of the many ways she illustrated her courage and strength. Despite the constant challenges and pain, she stayed strong until the end. Her energy for life, sense of humor and purely selfless love will be missed.

She was born in Chicago on June, 5, 1959 to Ema and Borê Erman. She spent a lot of her childhood traveling with her mother and sisters, Ema and Alenka. They dipped their toes in the Jefferson River and camped under the stars in Montana.

Lydia met the love of her life, Louis, in grade school. The two went their separate ways but fate stepped in and they reconnected after highschool. Together they had three children, Alojs, Dana and Alexander.

Lydia enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her friends and family. She lived to be with her grandchildren, she said they breathed life into her. She was always there to cheer them on at games, pick them up from school, watch their school parade and bake them their favorite flavor cake for their birthday.

She is survived by her husband Louis; her children, Alojs (Therese), Dana Beattie (Josh) and Alexander (Victoria); her grandchildren, Audrey, Ema, Molly, Reese, Annabelle, Mila, Louis, Lucas, Lillian and Maya; her niece Lauren Kostelny (Ben); cousin, Matt Soukal (Eugenia) and many other nieces, nephews and family members.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 4pm to 8pm at Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Stickney.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Lung Association on her behalf.

So sorry to hear of Lydia's passing. I have known her since the 4th grade. We had attended St. Stephen's Grade School and St. Joseph's High School together. May she rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to such a wonderful family
Lydia was a fun loving person reflected in my memories of her and I especially during our grammar school years when I saw her everyday. I still remember them; they bring a smile to my face when I think of all the laughs and fun we had.
If a person can make memories that last this long, it is a telltale of who they were.
Years after grammar school we enjoyed meeting when our kids were small & we could pick up right where we left off, laughing & remembering times shared in the past & watching the kids interact together!
She will be missed especially by her family, who she loved & cared for so dearly.
