Luis Vargas Obituary

For many years I worked alongside Luis as a teaching colleague at Chicago's Lincoln Park High School. I was honored to call him also a friend. I always admired his philosophical insights into teaching issues. March 2023 Mr, Pete Porok, formerly of LPHS

Luis, I often think of you. When I see lovely artwork you always come to my mind. Your work was so, so beautiful. And I think about your kind spirit.

Luis was my teaching colleague and friend at Lincoln Park High School. I pay tribute to him as a fine educator, artist, and human being. March 2020

What a dreadful surprise to hear of his death. I remember him as a good, peaceful soul with a contagious soft laugh.

I am so sorry to hear this. Mr Vargas was one of my favorite teachers in high school. He really was down to earth and easy to talk to.

He was an inspiring teacher. His door was always open to us at anytime. He will be missed!

Mr. Vargas was my Art teacher at Lincoln Park. I always remembered him as a great guy, with a great sense of humor and very talented. My condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Vargas was my favorite art teacher at LPHS from 1982-86 and made an impact on the lives of many students. He taught with great enthusiasm and made class always fun to attend. Mr. Vargas will be missed by many .

Peacefully

We treasure our times together. Luis and Pat shared their art, food and friendship in most wonderful ways. Earning our Masters of Arts in Education/ Interdisciplinary Arts Graduate school at the Consortium/Loyola University/DePaul, gave us unique ways to explore the arts. we danced, we told stories, we enjoyed the experience. Peace and Love all the days with memories of our last visit in June 2016, very good important times.

You know memories walk by your side like an old friend and comfort you; cherish all of them. Luis' beauty lives on in your memories and will bring you peace. Wishing you strength in the days ahead.
