Louis Alpert Obituary
Alpert, Louis D. 97, beloved husband of the late Beatrice, loving father of Myrna (Bob) Siegel, Susan (David) Greenberg and Edward (Ilene), adored grandfather of Mona Siegel (Steven Ingram), Aaron Siegel (Emily Begel), Jeffrey (Mara) Greenberg, Laura (Adam) Barshefsky and Benjamin Alpert, cherished great-grandfather of Bradley, Marisa, Alexa, Braeden, Amelie, Asher and Ariel. Mr. Alpert was a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Metallurgy. Louis worked for over 40 years with Federated Metals, division of ASARCO. At the time of his retirement in 1977, he was a General Manager in Whiting, Ind. Louis and Beatrice loved to travel and visited 5 continents in doing so. He enjoyed golf, photography and gardening. Chapel Service 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Private family interment. Memorials may be made to Am Shalom, 840 Vernon Ave., Glencoe, IL 60022. Dear Alpert family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I wanted a chance to tell you how one day when I was pregnant I ran across a book called Emma lights the sky. I have fell in love with this book and have read this book to my daughter Samantha for at least the first three years of her life right before bed. She is now five years old and we no longer read this story every night. My daughter resight it to me after the lights go out. Samantha has the night sky painted on her ceiling with stars that glow. It is the perfect story to end a busy day. I hope that when Mr. Alpert was alive he new how many peoples lives he became apart of by the wonderful stories he had written. Again I am very sorry for your loss but I wanted a chance to tell you that Mr.Alpert's stories will live on in our house hold and hopefully a start of a family tradition that will last generations.
