Please accept my prayers and condolences. Please know that Lisa and your families are in my thoughts and prayers.
Eternal rest, grant unto her O Lord. And may perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Dear George, Neil, Sara, the Murray and Hoglund families,
As a young girl growing up in Marynook, there were certain families who made the neighborhood the wonderful place it was. Two of these families, the Murrays and Hoglunds, namely Lisa, Patrick, Bic and George brought joy and life to our community. Lisa was always outgoing, warm and friendly, and George was always very kind and compassionate. The same beautiful qualities Lisa and George had as children carried them into adulthood and has spread to their own children. I will always remember the friendliness Lisa shared with everyone. Thank you for being such a blessing to all of the lives your lovely family has touched. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love,
Elise (Pollock) Tolson

George, Neil and Sara,
I wanted to take Fr. Quinn's suggestion of mentioning my favorite memories of Lisa.
First, I loved watching her at all the CK events where music played, and she just got out there to dance; she was always having a great time, just dancing, spinning and singing along; really living in that moment, enjoying the entertainment and the people. She was entertainment herself, fun and joyful.
Secondly, she was a smart numbers gal. Sitting in the stands at one of the basketball games, we were somehow talking about math and girls. She made such a point of saying how it drove her crazy to hear girls say they weren't good at math; she wasn't buying it, and she really lead by example. I love that Fr. Quinn told us how Sara used the word "smart" to describe her mom, to know that she was proud to be smart and never shrank from her abilities. I'll try to remember her words and example any time my own girls are struggling with math homework and feel like they just can't get it.
She was a really beautiful person, in every way, and I am happy to have known her.

Lisa Hoglund was an original and I am proud and honored that I was blessed to know her. No matter what she always had a kind word and an offer of friendship. A memory that comes to mind was when she and Sara came to pick up my daughter Taylor for a playdate, They rode over on a tandam (sp) bike and SHe shared that it was a wedding gift she and George had received. Whenever Lisa spoke of George,Neil and Sara her face and voice filled with love. She was truly blessed and knew it, Lisa was always sharing herself with others if it was supporting the kids in sports, speaking a kind word, or holding down the manna fort. She truly was someone to know. George,Neil and Sara our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to you. GOD BLESS, Toni Tranchita and Taylor Fitting.

One of my favorite memories of Lisa goes back to when Neil was about three years old. I was at the pediatrician's office with my new baby, Dominic, and into the waiting room walked Lisa, Neil and Sue. Neil had on this little ski jacket and winter hat, and he looked so adorable. As they walked up to the doctors' office window to check in, I could hear what Neil was saying to Lisa: "Mom, Mom," Neil said. "Yes, Neil," Lisa answered. "I love you, mom." "I love you too, Neil." That exchange has never faded from my memory and neither will my memory of how Lisa, George, Neil and Sara love one another so much. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

At our block party a few years ago, some of the kids were jumping rope and double-dutching. Lisa rose from her seat and asked if she could jump in. They looked at her as if she were crazy. But little did they know they were dealing with an old-school Felicitas girl. Lisa jumped in and tore it up, even doing a few reverses and spins in the twisting gyres of the fast-turning ropes. I'll never forget the look on her face: 1/2 concentration, 1/2 determination, and all joy. I learned just about everything I had to know about Lisa on that day: she could double dutch. She could jump in and go with enthusiasm and unbridled courage... and Joy. Man, could she jump. Somebody like that... they never really go away.

Lisa was fire. She ignited us to do the right thing, to think, to act and to love. She was vibrant and I so enjoyed having known her thru The Systems House for almost 20 years. She is not lost to us as I truly believe she has left a part of herself in every life she touched. God has another angel in heaven guiding our days on earth. My blessings to you George, Neil, Sara and all her extended family.

George, Neil, Sara and all the Hoglunds & Murrays,
Lisa sure was a special lady! I
know how loved she was by all of you. I will always remember that
smile and twinkle in her eyes. Though we drifted apart she will always be my bestest friend from Kimbark. We loved to make crank calls in the basement, tell the people they won a prize and then send them monopoly $$ in the mail.

George, Sara and Neil -
Please accept my deepest sympathy.
Know that Lisa (your mom) loved you all enough to fight the hardest I have EVER seen anyone fight to live. And why should that surprise any of us? Lisa always did everything to its fullest....live, love, laugh, work, encourage ...care for others.
I have never known anyone like her and my life is far richer for having known and loved her.
My prayers are with all of you.... especially so God may ease this difficult time.

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.

It's unfortunate that as cousins our families lived so far away growing up. We visited Chicago over the years and I always looked forward to seeing Lisa. Her twisted sense of humor couldn't be beat.
I'm so glad that I got to spend some more time with Lisa since we moved to Wisconsin. I was so impressed with the wonderfully compassionate and strong woman she became. And I appreciate how she cared for Manga.
I'm so glad that she got to know my wife and children. And I'm glad they got to know her.
Our deepest sympathies go out to George and the kids but know that the immense love that they all shared with Lisa will last immeasurable lifetimes.

I had the pleasure of working with Lisa for 7 years at TSH. When I started she was still on maternity leave with Sara. She was this mysterious person that everyone talked about, yet I hadn’t met.
When I finally got to meet Lisa, she was this energetic woman who came right up to me and introduced herself. I admired her immediately, as she was this confident woman who knew exactly what she wanted, and she ensured that things got done her way.
Her power to fight this horrible illness over the last few years is just small testament to how strong of a woman she was.
My thoughts and prayers are with George, Neil and Sara and Lisa’s entire extended family. Lisa was an inspirational woman, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to have known her for the last 10 years.
God Bless you all during this painful time
