Linda Susan Ubinger passed away peacefully at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida November 27, 2021. She was born May 4, 1953, in Oak Park, Illinois to Vernon and Dorothy (Gillis) Gehrke.

Linda was a 1975 graduate of Western Illinois University. Upon graduation she worked for ALCOA as an Environmental Biologist in Wenatchee, Washington. In 1979 Linda was promoted to Senior Environmental Biologist and transferred to the ALCOA headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she met her husband, Jack. When Linda became a mother in 1984, she chose to dedicate herself, fulltime, to raising her children and community service projects. The hallmark of Linda's life was the boundless generosity with which she gave of her time and organizational talents in support of her children's activities, school organizations and community organizations, as well as her financial support to a variety of charitable causes and, on occasion, to friends in need. Linda was a talented gourmet cook and baker and operated an in-home cake decorating business. Linda was an avid reader and enjoyed needle point and other crafts. Linda and Jack became residents of Fort Myers in January 2020.

Linda was an active member of the metropolitan Pittsburgh chapter of The Junior League and the North Hills [of Pittsburgh] Junior Women's Club. She also served in leadership positions of the elementary school, middle school, and high school parent-teacher organizations in the Hampton Township School District as her children progressed through school. Linda also volunteered for school athletic boosters organizations and the Hampton Township Parks Department.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Dorothy (Gillis) Gehrke.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of nearly 40 years John (Jack) Ubinger, Jr.; their children Megan (Gavin) Shelton and Timothy (Stefanie) Ubinger; their grandchildren Grace Shelton, Palmer Shelton, Hayden Shelton, and Henry Ubinger; her brother Tom (Darlene) Gehrke; her brother-in-law Rick (Lori) Ubinger; and nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral & Cremation Services, 1600 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907.

A funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord, 8051 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919 on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 11:30 AM.
