Lester Kaplin Obituary

Please accept our sincerest condolences at the passing of Dr. Kaplin. I was a patient of his 40 years ago, and he was a friend of my wife's parents, Alexander and Sylvia Newman (of blessed memory) at Bryn Mawr Country Club. Dr. Kaplin was not only the best dentist, but one of the best people we have known. We will hold him fondly in our memories.

Lester was a SINCERE Class "A" friend from day 1 that we met. He charged at an affordable rate requested by my single parent father-in-law when he had just met the man. When I went through bankruptcy he steadfastly refused to file a claim even though I insisted that he do so. Once, I came into his office with a lit cigar in my hand. He opened his window and threw it out on Michigan Avenue. He was a REAL mentsch in the full meaning of the term. My wife and I were his patients for years. We are now 80 and 78 and still have work in our mouths which he did 56 years ago. He was a man who really knew what he was doing and took well deserved pride in his work. We always enjoyed each others company in the office and when we saw each other socially. A real human being. We were happy and proud to know him.
