Lester Anixter Obituary

Anixter, Lester J. age 80, Veteran WWII, Chicago, Industrialist and benefactor of the Lester J. and Rosalie Anixter Center, died on Saturday, February 2, 2002 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Mr. Anixter was born in Chicago and graduated from Western Military Academy of Illinois and The Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania. During WWII, he served as a lieutenant in the Army Corps. Mr. Anixter was Chairman of the Board of Englewood Electrical Supply Company of Chicago. Son of the late Arthur and Sadie; preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie and two sons, Stewart and Robert; he is survived by his wife, Muriel "Midge" Kirchheimer Anixter; a brother, Edward F. (the late Edith) Anixter of Chicago; nieces JoAnn (Louis) Silva of Chicago, Barbara Anixter of Florida and nephew Steven (Janet) Anixter of Chicago; his stepchildren, Caryl (David) Noble, Marcy (Manny) Brown and Michael (Stacy) Kirchheimer; adored grandfather of six. Services Monday, February 4, 2002, 11 a.m. at the Piser Chapel, 5206 N. Broadway, Chicago. Interment Oakwoods Cemetery.
