Cooper, Leonard Bernard 80, beloved husband of Grace Cooper and loving father of Bernadette, Leonard Jr., and Karyn Cooper, step-father to Larry and Jonathan Williams, passed Tuesday, November 16, 2004. He was born February 3, 1924 in the Morgan Park community of Chicago, Illinois to Mossie E. Cooper and Jimmie Shillcutt. He was the youngest of four children. He attended public school in Chicago, Illinois and was attending Chicago Conservatoire of Music when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. In 1943, he was trained at Camp Lockett, California, B Throop 28th Calvary. From there, he served in the 366th Infantry North Africa and Italy. He then served with the 224th Engineer Core in the Philippines and was honorably discharged. November 1, 1954, he joined the Chicago Fire Department. He retired as an Engineer, February 12, 1981 from Engine Company 95. Visitation will be Sunday, November 21, 2004 at The Williams Chapel, 11053 S. Vincennes Avenue, Chicago, IL., 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Services will be held Monday, November 22, 2004 at Beth Eden Baptist Church, 11121 S. Loomis. Interment at Oak Wood Cemetery.
