Father Leo's family was the pride and joy of Leopold, MO. His dad, "Teacher Hotze" is my great-uncle. I remember Teacher greeting everyone on the front steps of St. John's Catholic Church every Mass. He called me "Captain". That was 50 years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday! Leo and all his siblings did our town proud!

My Dad worked in the Post Office at Techny for many years. Father Leo (as well as his brothers Father Al and Father Clem) were at our house many times of the years for dinner. Enjoyed listening to their stories of the countries they served in. Rest in Peace Father Leo.

Father Leo was a friend of my parents, Margaret & Joseph Schaefer. We loved it when he would stop by for dinner. He seemed to enjoy all of us kids. My
husband, Wayne Ray, has a favorite memory of him. My Dad gave him a pair of new shoes that he didn't need. They were too big but Father Leo didn't care. He said they "were fine, just a little long". We loved him. We send our deepest sympathy.

Father Leo was a dear friend of my parents Joe and Marge Schaefer. For years he came to visit our home. I remember how excited we (all 8 of us) would be when he would pull up to our house in Dolton, Il. He would pick us up and swing us around and we would scream and giggle. Father Leo officiated at our marriage on Oct. 18, 1969. He performed a special Mass for us on our 25 Anniversary in 1994. He Baptized our son, Marcus in 1977. What a good priest and wonderful man he was. Our hearts are saddened by his passing; but are comforted to know he is now walking with Jesus in Heaven.
