He was born in Lowell on Aug. 30, 1928, a son of the late Leandre and Delia (Beaulieu) Durand. He received his education in the Lowell school system.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Durand worked for B & M Railroad. Before retiring, he was employed in security for 10 years with St. Joseph Hospital, now part of Saints Medical Center.
He was a communicant of the former St. Jean Baptiste Church in Lowell. He enjoyed fishing and collecting railroad memorabilia.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jean Paul Durand of Daytona Beach, Fla. and George and Ann Marie Durand of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Suzanne and Gary Moore of Lowell and Pauline Courtois of Las Vegas;. He also leaves his brothers and sisters, including, Lucien Durand and Simonne Morris; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Durand was also the father of the late Anita Durand, and brother of the late Roland Durand and several other deceased siblings.
