Larry always called me once a year, because, I was the maid of honor in there wedding, December, 1963. Merzy was my best friend at Hope College. We kept in touch for all of her life, then, Larry called me many times....I will miss his phone calls and humor. God Bless you Soul, Larry.

Larry was fun to be around, and I always enjoyed being in his company. I especially liked playing golf with him and Greg Humphrey. Larry always had a stories to tell during the round, and I always thought the stories were way more important to him than the golf. After completing a hole Greg would ask each of us for our score, and Larry would review each shot to get his total. We really didn't care about our scores--except for our $2 Nassau's with Ed McElroy---which we rarely won.
Professionally, Larry was smart and quick with an answer. He always took my call and provided solid legal advice on how to proceed with a collective bargaining or benefit issue. His advice gave me the confidence to know that the union's position was on solid ground.

Larry Poltrock was a visionary in the labor movement, representing our Chicago Educators and workers across the nation through AFT. I learned much from Larry, used the AFT Defense Fund data he preserved to help others, and enjoyed his friendship. His time on earth ends now but his legacy continues to serve working families and his wisdom will be missed.
