Fisher, Lawrence The Honorable Lawrence Fisher, age 81, loving, devoted and extraordinary husband of Jean Lois (nee Greenwald), devoted father of Maury (Debbie) Fisher, Marcie (Dr. Doug) O'Neill, Elene (Donald) Clement, father-in-law of the late Robert Vargo, extremely proud and "THE" family Zade of Jessica (Jesse) Barnes, Andrew Vargo (fiancee Kristine Rosenblatt), Tara (Jason) Frazier, Olivia Vargo (companion Philip Keefer), Madeline Vargo, Tegan and Zia O'Neill, and the late Todd Fisher, Great Zade of Jagger and Jesse L. Barnes, loving brother of Marilyn (Dr. Morris) Levine, the late Leonard (Sylvia) Fisher. Jean and Larry celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary earlier this year. Judge Fisher served as a Federal Bankruptcy Judge and Chief Judge for 13 years. Judge Fisher was a Rhodes Scholar finalist at the very young age of 16 years old. After graduating from University of Chicago Summa Cum Laude after 15 months and from the University of Chicago Law School Summa Cum Laude in 1948 he joined the law practice of his late father Joseph and his late brother Leonard. There was never a place that Zade did not want to visit as he would drive anywhere in the World to see a site. One of the most brilliant minds that the University of Chicago has ever witnessed he will be forever dearly and profoundly missed. Zade has left a long and proud legacy for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for ever and eternity. I am sorry to hear of Judge Fisher's passing. I worked with Maury and Judge Fisher at D'Ancona & Pflaum for Linda Green and they were the nicest people to work with. May his soul rest in peace.

When Judge Fisher became a bankruptcy trustee I had the pleasure of "supervising" him. He was a good person who I will miss.

I am sad to hear of Larry's passing. I have nothing but the most fond memories of time spent with him at your home as a young boy.

Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A cornerstone of the extended family has been lost. We shall always cherish the times we had together.

The sad news of Larry's demise in today's Tribune brought back a flood of precious memories. We were togther in the 1940's as brothers in the Phi Sigma Delta fraternity house on Woodlawn Avenue; and continued to socialize in our post-graduate years as members of an informal poker goup, and at fraternity alumni events. He was a great guy!
My deepest sympathies to Jean, and to Marilyn & Morrie Levine (some of whom may, even after more than a half-century, possibly still have a vague recollection of my name); and to all of the generations in Larry's entire family.
My best to all,
Anita Straus

I am so sorry to hear of Judge Fisher's passing. I enjoyed working with him for many years when he sat on the Bankruptcy bench. I worked as a Trustee and Assignee for 32 years and had the pleasure of appearing before him many times. Appreciated his wisdom and always felt he was very thoughtful and caring regarding those in these unhappy circumstances. His decisions seemed to be fair to all those involved.
