Laurence Frances Martin, 100, native of Ballynagearn, Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Co. Monoghan, Ireland; passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Sarah nee McNally for 69 years. Devoted son of the late Thomas and Mary Ellen née McCahey, stepmother Eva nee Crowley; cherished father of Patrick (Sharon), Dean (Eileen),Terrence (Marie), Paul, Colleen (John) Hanley and, the late Laurence (Christine); adoring grandfather of Sean (Bernadette), Heather (James) Young, Alana, Aisling, Kelly, Brendan, Tara (John) Bradley, Shane, Kyle (Hanna), Patrick, Sheila, Colleen, Erin, Meghan, Katie, Michael, Bridie and Martin; fond great grandfather Nathan, Noah, Jack, Daisy, Patrick and Liam; He was preceded in death by his siblings Thomas (Bridget), Patrick and Maureen (Paddy) Clarke. Larry Martin was a self-taught mechanic who worked as a foreman mechanic for the Peoples Gas Company for 30 years. Also, the proud owner of three newspaper stands in the city of Chicago. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Larry will always be remembered by his family as a hardworking, quiet but strong man who left his family with many words of wisdom. Until we meet again …May the angels bring him safely into the arms of Jesus. Funeral Monday 9:45 AM from Gibbons Family Funeral Home, 5917 W. Irving Park Rd. (1/2 Block East of Austin) to Immaculate Conception Church (Harlem & Talcott). Mass 10:30 AM. Interment Maryhill Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 3-8 PM.
