I'm a retired movie distributor living in Arizona. I still maintain theatre owner friends back in Chicago and when they told me about Larry, I had instant memories of he and I sitting in the screening rooms and telling lies of how good or bad the movie which I had to sell him were. All the while Larry was with Essaness Theatres, we maintained a very good relationship. He truly was one of the "Good Guys". The industry will miss him. There are not too many people I can say that about.

Dear Mrs. Hanson,
I was saddened to learn of the death of Larry. The last time I spoke to him, if you recall, he was very tired from therapy, was trying to grow his beard again and was so grateful that you were there by his side. May the days ahead, although sorrowful and lonesome, give you peace in knowing that his suffering is now over and you will see him again.

Mel,
Thank you for loving Larry & sharing him with the world. His many accomplishments & friends are testament to the marvelous life lived by someone with a passion for stories shown in movies, through personal integrity & by keeping the love shining from a wonderful mom! May those memories comfort you as mine do me from knowing you.
Love,
Jeannie

Mel...
Our sympathy and God's encouragement...
at this time of grieving over the loss of your Larry. We moved back to Sioux Falls in 1971, and my husband opened his Ear-Nose-Throat office. He needed someone to be his Office Manager and was given the name of Mel Hanson as "the best person he could find"!
That was so true for many years that followed.
Although Larry left Sioux Falls, about a year after our arrival, you've kept us informed of his various successes in the movie theater business. We recall how his Dad, Dean, loved to dress as a clown and entertain children, and Larry's chosen profession was entertainment!

Dear Mel,This is Sue and Teri from Evanston ICU! We saw the notice about Larry on Sunday after the Memorial service. We would have so much liked to be there. Please know how very sorry we are about Larry. We pray his last days were good ones out of the hospital and that he wasn't suffering too much. Our hearts go out to you. Know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers. We will let everyone in the ICU know. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Fondly, Sue Heuer and Teri Gigot

Mel - I just heard from Don Johnson about Larry's death. Words can't express my sadiness and the lost that we are all feeling now. Larry was my 1st boss at the East Park Drive-In in Sioux Falls. I still cherish all of the memories that I had working with him and the friend that he became to all of us. I will miss him and my prayers are with you.

Mel I am so sorry for the loss of Larry. I can remember all of the good times we had growing up on 37th street. His passion for the movies started in high school and never slowed down. We were like brothers and I will miss him so much.
