Br Kevin was indeed "Beaver Island" to me and my family. Since 1987 when we 1st visited the island and Brother Domnan Lodge and for the next 12 years thereafter, Br Kevin always made us feel at home in "his house" and was exceptionally kind to our kids--especially when he tried to teach them cribbage. When Br Kevin left the island in the late '90s a piece of the lodge and the island went with him. As current owners, we are only the caretakers of the property that Br. Kevin so loved. He will truly be missed by not only us, but all of the islanders whose path he crossed. God Bless.

Brother Kevin was a gift to all who knew him. Although I never had Brother Kevin in class, he served as the advisor to the ConTact organization at Cretin and generously gave his time to it. He also drove the old Cretin bus. He drove our class to a retreat with the Trappist monks in New Mellery, Iowa our junior year in the spring of 1956. Although not the tallest man physically, he stood tall. He had a great smile and great arm strength.
What service to give 75 years of your life as a Christian Brother!
You fought the good fight, Brother Kevin. You indeed finished the race. And now you have your great reward!

We cannot put into words the respect and awe that we in Kansas City have for Bro. Kevin. Suffice it to say , one of our sons is named for him.

Truly a "man for others". His lifelong dedication to teaching and education are truly inspirational. There is no telling how many hunderds, thousands and/or ten's of thousands of people that Br. Mackey positively affected throughout his life of teaching and guiding our youth.
May God hold Br. Mackey in the palm of his hand!
