Kenneth Goldberg Obituary

Goldberg, Kenneth Lewis

Kenneth (Ken/Kenny) Lewis Goldberg, 71, passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2024. Ken was born November 20th, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, to Mort Goldberg and Loujean Arentsen. He was raised in Northbrook and Chicago in a multi-generational manufacturing family. Ken was an accomplished gymnast at Glenbrook North High School, excelling at the pommel horse. He attended Lincoln College for two years before hitting the road with his beloved 1973 Norton Commando Motorcycle across the country traveling from Illinois to Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, California, Portland and Idaho. Ultimately, coming back to Chicago to work with his father at Ex-Cell Metal Products, a third generation manufacturing company. Originally started by his grandfather, Joe Goldberg, in 1934. Spending almost 40 years bringing Ex-Cell to an international stage, selling millions of items to the hotel and restaurant industry. He met and married Sheryl Harris in 1977, and they had a daughter, Tamara Joy (TJ) Goldberg in 1978. They built a life together in Rogers Park. His daughter, Tamara went on to marry Joshua Bryant and have three beautiful children Alec, Braelyn and Tallulah that he adored. Tamara now works for another family-owned manufacturing business he helped build. He went on to marry Catherine Fourrel De Frettes in 1989 and had a daughter, Nora Goldberg. In 1994 they moved to Highland Park, where he developed an amazing group of friends through his love of motorcycles, and frequenting every live musical venue from here to Chicago. He spent his later years collaborating on countless businesses and inventions - turning his home into an oasis of creativity. He is survived by his two daughters, Tamara Bryant (Joshua) and Nora Goldberg, three grandchildren Alec Parthe, Braelyn Bryant and Tallulah Bryant, two sisters Janet Kaiser (Phil) and Karen Goldberg, two nephews Chris Kaiser (Jess) and Mike Kaiser. He also included in his blended family, his ex-wife's second marriages sons, Keats Dolgin and Eliot Dolgin. We will be celebrating his life at Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home in Highland Park on August 17th, 2024. Visitation is from 10:00 AM -1:00 PM, followed by a Memorial service at 1:00 PM.

Ken was a generous soul with a playful spirit. Interested in everything and always eager to engage in a conversation. Family was everything to him. What is lost remains in the heart and that certainly will be true with Ken (a/k/a Kensington!).

Our deepest condolences to Tamara, Josh, Alec, Braelyn, Tallulah, and the entire family.
