Mr. Danz was one of the few instructors that made being part of the St. Rita Mustang Band fun. When I had switched from clarinet to baritone saxophone, I always had a great time being part of the low brass section and having Mr. Danz lead us in sectional practice. His jokes, stories, and devotion to the band will always be remembered. The St. Rita community has lost a great man and I'm glad to be one of the lucky ones to have known him.

Ken Danz was the best of the best, simply put. My days with the St. Rita High School Band were very enjoyable because of Mr. Danz. He went that extra mile. A fine instructor, patient, kind, quiet, reflective, respectful of your opinion and extremely knowledgeable about music, I was amazed. When I think back about the St. Rita Band Mr Danz always comes to mind (amongst other people). But then again the St. Rita High School Band always did surround themselves with nothing but the best people, the most caring. I'am sorry to have read that Mr. Danz had died. Dear Danz Family,

Dearest sympathies on the loss of your father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. I remember him fondly picking up and driving the Lourdes and Maria highschool girls to St.Rita for band and Ritanette practice telling his stories of the days while in WW2. He will be sorely missed by many. May the memories of him bring you comfort.

Dear Danz Family,

I was sadden to hear of Ken's passing. He was a great man, an influence on my musical life, and someone I'll never forget. If it was not for him, I never would have join band in high school and my future would have taken a much different direction. I'll especially miss his jokes, his "You stepped in what?" whenever you asked him a question, and even his undying loyalty to the Cubs. Unfortunately, do to a very recent loss in my family, my wife and I are unable to attend the wake or funeral mass for him, but know that we are praying for him and your family.

Mr. Danz was a very special person. I will never forget him. He was an excellent instructor and great friend and lots of fun to be around. Especially when we (the Band) played the Rita football games, those Zebras, as Mr. Danz called them, were always on his list and he wasn't afraid to tell them either. With him no kid was ever left behind. If you needed a ride home he was there for you and it didn't matter where you lived. He will truly be missed dearly by the St. Rita Band Family and will always be remembered. God Bless you all.

To Theresa and the entire Danz family -

I'm so saddened to hear of your father's passing. He was such a wonderful person, and will be truly missed. I will be forever grateful to both he and your mother for always welcoming me into your home; and I will also never forget how he drove us several times all the way to Wrigley Field - just so we could see the Cubs in person. His kindness will never be forgotten.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Linda (Schranz) Furlan and Family
