Kenneth Brigham Obituary

Rev. Kenneth Michael Brigham retired from the Archdiocese of Chicago after 44 years of service. He retired to Las Vegas, NV in June of 2005, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2006, after a brief illness. Fr. Brigham was born in Chicago, IL on May 10, 1935, to Gilbert Brigham and Marie Pollard Brigham. He was the only africian-american student in his class. He was ordained in the Archdiocese of Chicago by his Eminence Albert Cardinal Meyer on May 1, 1961. His first Mass was said at St. Malachy Church, 2248 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL. The parishes in which he has served are as follows: Our Lady of Solace, St. Clotilde, St. Agatha, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Holy Angels, St. Helena of the Cross, St. Columbanus, St. Angela, Our Lady help of Christians, St. Martin De Porres, before retiring he served as Dean of Vicariate III Deanery D., Christ the King (Nevada). Both of his parents, and four other male siblings who passed away as infants preceded him in death. In his passing he leaves to carry on his legacy of devotion: his best friend and devoted sister Josephine R. McCord of Las Vegas, NV, brothers Gilbert Brigham of Walnut Creek, CA, Wayne Lockhart of Houston, TX; one adopted son Dominic Cauley grandsons Jalen and Donovan, a host of nieces and nephews, and many other who were touched by his generosity and friendship. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at St. Columbanus, 331 E. 71st St. Chicago, IL, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Services will be held at St. Malachy Church 2248 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60612. The wake will begin at 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., where Francis Cardinal George, OMI will be the principal celebrant. Interment at Queen of Heaven, Hillside, IL. Arrangements entrusted to AA Rayner & Sons Funeral Home, 318 E. 71st St.,773-846-6133

My sincere condolences and prayers for you and your family on the passing of Kenny. We shared many moments together at St. Malachy's and in the seminary.
