Hey Dana, Even though late I am sorry to hear about your dad. I worked with him as a jr. colleague, I believe he had some record delivering babies.
We use to hear that if he has to deliver late in the night, he will take a quick nap commuting between hospitals, before going to his clinic. Please correct me if it is not correct.

To the entire Knapp family.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
I am writing on behalf of the Rian family from 31st Lowe.
When I grew up in Bridgeport Dr Knapp's office was on Wallace.
Oh what a Dr!. There is and will be no
one like him. He was there for my family for many many years as I was growing up. Always there. No matter what time of day. He was very good to my mom, Joan who passed away in 1975.
Growing up,I really thought he was the ONLY Dr in Bridgeport because EVERYONE went to him anytime of the day. .
I grew up with the Knapp children. I can still remember the house in Bridgeport. I'm sure all of you have made him so proud.
My prayers are with you.

I am so sorry to hear about Dr Knapp passing. I didn't know until I drove past his office yesterday.
Like so many in the neighborhood, he delivered me and my other siblings and in turn he was my family doctor when I lived in Bridgeport.
Always packed, but the wait in the office was worth every minute to see a doctor who went out of his way to help everyone.
He will be missed.

Dana, I grew up in Bridgeport and you were the same age as a friend of mine. Your memories in the guest book brought back some good ones like The Governor's Table. I still remember which house was yours. I wish you and your family peace and certainly your dad for how hard he worked.

He delivered me and from what I heard from my mother and from others whom he cared for, he was a lifesaver and a doctor ahead of his time. His compassion was remarkable. He is a legend. Everyone knew him.

Our deepest condolences to the entire Knapp family. Mr Knapp was a great person always helping others when in the need. He was a great Doctor. He will truely be missed. One of the best laughs I will always remember about DR. Knapp was when I was in high school and I didn't want to take gym so I took one of his perscription pads and excused myself for one year of gym. I got caught! I used the same date for both. My mom took me to his office and he laughed so hard, he said I was the first to ever sign his name and I did a great job. Needless to say I had to take gym and he always reminded me even as an adult what had transpired. I remember painting his house in Hinsdale, what a pretty house. The back office visits when we just had a question for him. He was a great person and he will be missed and the many memories will go on forever. He will be with our son in law Dean Gutierrez they can laugh at us down here. The Baker family (Ohio)

Dear Mrs. Knapp and Family:
It was with great sorrow that I read of the news of your husband and
fathers passing. I believe the Bridgeport community, Mercy Hospital family
and many nurses and physicians share your loss. He was a great man.
While attending St. Mary of Nazareth School of Nursing in 1975-
1977 I lived in the McKinley Park and Bridgeport neighborhoods. I was
living on my own without health insurance or any financial resources for
medical care.
The stress of school often left me with colds, bronchitis etc…
I would stop by Dr.Knapps’ office and sign in, instructed to return in
hours to be evaluated by him. As you well know, he would work late into
the evening to serve the needs of all, rich or poor, insured, uninsured.
I would often return late with a beef sandwich in hand as an offering.
A tired, hungry servant would graciously accept my humble offering and
provide services free of charge.
He left this world a better place. I will never forget his generosity &
goodness.

To the Knapp Family,
Dr. Keith is my long lost Uncle, his brother Tom's daughter Lori. I never got to know my Uncle and Cousins very well. But I am sending my heartfelt wishes for him to rest in peace and be reunited with his brother, and others. I know my dad always talked good about him and loved him dearly, and I regret that we did not get to know each other better. However, I do remember his visits and remember how funny he was, and what a pair of comedians he and my dad were on those few occasions. I am certain he will be missed from all the other comments I see, but I also know he is now resting in a better place.
God Bless his soul, and God Bless his family.
Love the other Knapps, (OH & GA)

Dr Knapp Sr was the epitome of a country dr. right there in Bridgeport. I remember him first from 1959. He was always caring and like others have said you knew you could trust him. I can't recount the numerous times he was there for our large family as we grew to adults. Many took their children to Dr Knapp.
We remember the offices across from the bakery, feeling almost as if you could call or go there any time of day or night. He seemed to always be there.
God Blessed us with his presence. I know he is now present with the Lord. We keep your family in Prayer

It's probably about 45 years since I saw Dr. Knapp. I was Keith Jr.'s 4th grade teacher at St. Joe's Military Academy. We didn't get to see the parents often. I'm sorry to say that I can't picture him, but I can vividly see Keith Jr. with his red hair.
My prayers are with you in this your time of sorrow. Take comfort in knowing that he is in the arms of our Lord.

My prayers and condolences to Dr. Knapp's family. I remember when Dr. Knapp opened his office on Wallace in the 1950's. I was the associate at St. Anthony's parish down the street and had many contacts with him as he began his practice - serving the community so well. May he rejoice with the Lord.

Dr. Knapp Sr. (our family Dr) for years, took care of all of us kids when we were small and growing up. If we didn't go to his office on the corner of 30th & Wallace he made house calls (back then). He delivered 2 of our siblings (Steve & Ginger). He made seeing a Dr. delightful experience so we were not afraid. He'd make funny jokes to make our visit easier. I use to think he was part of Dr. Ben Casey and Dr. Marcus Welby (old TV shows). He and his family also were our neighbors and friends down the block.
He will be missed. God Bless to him and his family.
