I had the great pleasure to work for Kathy at the Chicago Board of Trade. She was not only my Manager but we became good friends. We have always kept in touch throughout the years and she was always there for advice for ANYONE. Terry and Tom, I know you two were her greatest pride and joy and may your memories of her help you with the saddness you are suffering.

I want to express my deepest sympathy to the Durkin family, the O'Connell family, Eileen Tew, and to all of Kathleen's friends. I have known this Family since 1976. Kathy's dad and mom,Thomas and Helen have welcome me in their lives so many times over the years.Thank you Joe for calling me to let me know of your sisters passing. I remember at work all the times that her dad Thomas talked about her various illiness she has suffered through. I recall the day that Kathy gave me a puppy from a litter of Short Hair Pointers. Keep in your hearts and mind the memories you have of her. She is with her family and friends in Gods Kingdom. Thank you all for allowing me to think of myself as a good friend of your entire family

To the Durkin and O'Connell family,

I have known Kathy since grammer school and was a bridesmaid. She lived down the street from me and we were great friends. In latter years we even worked together for a few years. She was a great artist who drew a scenery for me for a fundraiser. The group was so proud of her when she had the lead role in Helen Keller in high school. She had a great disposition and was very outgoing. One of many things that stands out about Kathy, is what a great caregiver she was to her mom. Kathy truly made sacrafics to make her mom comfortable during those times. She was a special person in God's eyes. Most people could not deal with the constant health issues she had during her whole life. She truly was an inspiration! She has left a great legacy with her two children who she was very proud of. She is now in the arms of God and looking down and smiling...

My sincere sympathy.

Kathleen - Kathy - Kernal,

What a joy it is to have know and shared many wonderful moments with you. You helped make my youth one of great fun. Your exuberance of life, full of happy high spirits gave us all abundant enjoyment. Your trials in suffering were a quiet witness of courage under fire. For countless years when at your physical worst, you were able to be firm and march on much longer than many others would have been able to do. You are a tribute to courage and a legacy for your family and friends. On this day of Our Lady of Lourdes and World Day of the Sick, I ask God's blessings on you Kernal. We are all better persons for having known you.
