Clancy Family,
Mom just called and shared the news with me. Mrs. Clancy was such a huge influence on our family. Even after dads death, mom continues to share wonderful stories of her with the family. I remember on my last visit home to Chicago, I walked in the house and, after what had to be at least 25 years since she had seen me, she looked up at me and just shouted, 'Ohhh, it's Bobby Cassidy's boy!" That had to be in 2007 I think.
Anyway, we love you all and the world just won't be the same.

I remember the lovely Mrs Clancy way back when I was visiting my grandparents next door, the Messers. I can recall us girls going over with my grandmother to visit; my grandmother wanted us to learn from the gracious Kathleen and her daughters. It worked, we developed manners!! I loved to just sit and listen to her stories, her lilting voice captivated me, She was an angel on earth, and now in Heaven. To me, the world is a sad place indeed, without the likes of Kathleen Clancy. My heartfelt sympathy to the family.

Dear Cathal, Liam, Mary, Patrick, Katheen and Gerard,
So deeply saddened to read of your dear mother's death. Unfortunately I will not be at home to visit at your mother's wake and funeral, to give you my condolences in person. I'm out in the Phoenix, AZ to be with my granddaughters over the Thanksgiving holiday, so I will not be back to Chicago 'til Nov 27th.
I was thrilled to meet and know your mom, and all of you as well, since back in Fall 1957 when I met Kathleen, Pat, Joe, Gerard and Liam. Your claim to fame then was that you were the first "real Irish" family I had ever known, as you were directly from Ireland. Since then I have known your mom and all of you to be the kindest, loveliest and best representatives of that fair Emerald Isle to reach our hometown Chicago northside!
I loved to visit your mom on a Sunday after Mass with Kathleen to sample her Irish brown bread, - I said then and still believe you could live on it! ... and even more so on her goodness and kindness.
Please be assured that my heart and prayers will be with all of you during this sad, yet holy and grace filled time, as you send your beloved mother back to heaven, to be with your Dad and Joseph!
My love to all the Clancy family,

My sincere sympathy to the family of Mrs. Clancy. A beautiful and very sweet woman who I had the good fortune to speak to on a few times when Maureen would bring her to have a manicure. She was the belle of the ball! Radiant and happy. May God bless her memory.

One could look at her age, and think, "well, she lived a long good life and it was her time." But to anyone who knew her or had the opportunity to meet her, they think, "she left us too soon." Such a happy and wonderful woman was Grandma Clancy! And what a remarkable legacy she left all of us. Prayers and love to the entire Clancy Family. Love always, Mary O.
