Karl Bracken Obituary

Karl G.Bracken 1914 ~ 2004  Karl G. Bracken, a caring husband, father, brother, and grandfather passed away peacefully early Saturday morning October 16, 2004 at the age of 90. He was born August 2, 1914 in Roosevelt, UT to George and Ellen Todd Bracken. Karl was the oldest of eight children. He graduated from Roosevelt High and went on to serve our country in World War II from 1942-1945 as part of the U.S. Army 71st Infantry Division where he was awarded a Bronze Star. Karl worked for Grey-hound while attending the U of U and the LDS Business College. He married the love of his life, Donna M. Leishman, June 11, 1948 in Elko, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In 1984 he retired from the U.S. Post Office as a letter carrier.He loved fishing, tying flies, and took pride in his yard and small garden. Over the years he also enjoyed watching his granddaughters participate in sporting events. He and Donna also enjoyed fitness classes at the Heritage Center. Karl is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Terry; daughters, Kim Bracken Hood and Kristine Bracken Carling; sisters, Ardis Kettle, Rhea Pool; granddaughters, Chanda Carling and Rochelle Hood. Karl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane, Guy, and Lynn; sisters, Merle and Ellen; and granddaughter, Amorette Hood. Funeral services will be held Wed-nesday October 20, 2004, 11 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Morutary, 6500 South Redwood Road. Friends and family may call Tuesday October 19, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to services Wed-nesday. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
