Jules Dashow's hearty strength comes to mind as I hear his dry, wry baritone in my ear. That quality lives on in his daughter in an even more refined flowering. Knowing him made my life a richer experience.

Dear Debbie,
Your dad was such a great guy -- smart, funny, convivial, and energetic -- that he made a lasting impression on everyone who met him. He was also a kind and generous man. I'm glad he managed to live to such a remarkable age, and sorry you had to lose him at last. I remember him with great fondness.

Dear Deborah,
I was agreeably impressed with the eulogy about your father.
I share your comments about him. He was a remarkable gentleman. He gave me my first job.
He and Nell were a wonderful couple.
I shall never forget them.

My sincere thanks to everyone who has offered such wonderful tributes, memories, and anecdotes about Jules. They've provided some gratifying -- as well as amusing -- new perspectives on Dad for all of us Dashows.
I hope everyone else who visits this web site will add to this special collection of writings.

What a wonderful life - 97 years - not the 100 he was planning on - but he lived through such an interesting time with a devoted wife, Nell, and a loving family. We should all be so lucky. I came across a picture from Leo's 70th Birthday Party of the Dashow's and Ruth's the same day we received the news from Chicago and thought what a difference ten years makes - both Nell and Jules were smiling with their arms around Debbie and Leo. A happy time and that's the way we will remember both of them.

I remember your father's great wit, charm, sense of humor and warm smile. An accomplished man living life to the fullest. He left quite a wonderful impression on me as a youth and he was a great model for future lawyers. Quite sure of himself, but still so open-hearted. Kelly and I were saddened to hear of his loss and we extend our deepest sympathies to you, Leo and the rest of your family. Our hearts are with you during this difficult time. Much love,
Carolyn and Kelly

Jules was a man for all seasons--attorney, collector of art and other rarities, world traveler, father of three extraordinarly gifted children, staunch fan of Roy Orbison and husband to a loving wife who stood by him through an entire lifetime. We enjoyed the great pleasure of his quick and generous wit on several occasions and grieve the loss of such a singularly unique man. He is one of those men who will never be forgotten by family or friends. Our sympathy to Deborah and Leo and all those who knew and loved him.

This is indeed, another milestone in our times together, and though it is not what might be considered a celebration, it is time to honor and celebrate the life of a man who endered himself to me and left of legacy most commendable.

My brother Eric and I wish all in Jules' family the best. He was our late father's lawyer, a mensch, and a testament to the rejuvenative effects of the vodka martini. May he rest in peace.
