Judith Silberg Obituary

Silberg, Judith "Judy" Passed away peacefully in Chicago on August 5, 2017, after a brief hospitalization. Judy was born in Chicago on March 1, 1935, to Joseph and Lillian Liss. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952, and married her high school sweetheart, Sylvan Silberg, in June 1953. Judy and Sylvan had three children together. They divorced in 1980, but remained close. Judy was first and foremost a homemaker, but she also worked outside the home, as a secretary for a finance company before the children were born, and later as a teacher's aide for the school district of Highland Park, Illinois, and as a claims examiner for Allstate Insurance. Judy was beautiful and sweet and always remembered birthdays. She loved spending time with family and friends, and her hobbies included knitting, travelling, attending concerts, and collecting art. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Selma Rubin, Ruth Steen, and Albert Liss. She is survived by her children, Francine (Lane) Shetterly, Jeffrey (Terri) Silberg, and Sherri Silberg; three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Joel Turney) Silberg, Joel Shetterly, and Lauren Shetterly, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on August 25, at Temple Beth Israel, 3601 Dempster St., Skokie, IL.

May the God of all comfort strengthen the family during this time of deep sorrow. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences. (Psalms 116:15)
