Josie Kirby Obituary
Josie "Jo" Olive Burke Kirby, age 89 (16 days short of her 90th birthday) passed away December 26, 2011 at home in Murray, Utah.
She was born January 11, 1922 in Vernal, Utah to Jesse and LaVonia Burke. She married Norman C. Kirby, June 12, 1948. Jo was famous among her family for her cookies. Loved family dinners and yearly reunions. She loved gardening and taking care of her yard and home. She looked forward to visits from her young great-grand kids. Jo also worked as a secretary in Primary and Relief Society for many years.
Jo is survived by her son, Rodney (Pam) Kirby; daughter, Jolene Peek; grandchildren, Stefanie Kirby, Cole (Mandy) Kirby, Derek (Val) Kirby, Stacie (Daniel) Gibson, Melanie (Ryan) Langford; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Ted (Elva) Burke; sisters: Rexine (Ron) Anderson, Carol Clegg; sisters-in-law, Janet Burke and Jane Burke.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Melvin (Bernice) Burke, William (Dolora) Burke, Howard, Ray, and Don Burke; sisters, Beulah Richins, Lamar (Bob) Guymon, Wanda (Dale ) Haney.
The family would like to thank her two special aides, Arlene and Jennifer, who lovingly cared for Mom for the past two and a half years and became members of the family. We would also like to thank CareSource for their care and support during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30th, 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 So. Redwood Rd., with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment, Redwood Memorial Cemetery.

We lived next door to the Kirbys on 17th south. Jo was a very good friend to my mother, Liane Milburn. She always thought very highly of Jo. I remember Rodney and Jolene, but they were quite a bit younger than me. I have often thought of Jo and wondered what had become of her through the years. I'm sure she will be greatly missed. My prayers and thoughts go out to you at this time.
