I found out tonight of your loss. I am so sorry. I took exercise classes from Jo 25 years ago. I still exercise today. When certain songs come on the radio they remind me of our classes and the routines. What a shock to get this news. Please send my prayers to your whole family. I thought of her often and was greatful for her energy and spunk that was contagious and kept me exercising all these years. What a loss for everyone that knew her.

Dear Larry & Family

We just heard about Jo this morning. There are no words we can say to make this time better. You all are in our prayers and thoughts. We are very thankful to have known Jo and have wonderful memories.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
I am so proud and lucky to have known and loved and been married to my beautiful and caring wife Joey for so very short, and so very happy 36 years.
My children and I are thankful and amazed at the outpouring of love and support for our family from the Park Ridge community, and from the Grayslake and Lake County communities and beyond. The long lines at the wake, the shared tears and stories, the mass cards and notes, the crowded church service. These are a testament to Jo, and show that she touched many lives with her spirit and her fun and love.
We appreciate and are comforted by your support, your kindness, and your prayers.
-Chief Larry Herzog and family.

Larry, Steve and I wish to express our saddness at the sudden loss of Jo. She touched so many lives in such a positive way and will be missed by many. We have been reminiscing over the many good times we had together; dinner at Greek Town, at each others houses, and at work and aerobic classes. To Jo's Family,

I was so saddened to hear of Jo's passing. I took her aerobic and water areobic classes several years ago. She was truly one in a million! Her Thanksgiving Day class was a sight to behold. Working out to Christmas aerobic music was great fun.

At this difficult time, may you all find comfort in your cherished memories of her.

Dear Herzog Family,
Thank you for sharing Jo with those of us lucky enough to have met her, stepped with her, paddled with her, jogged in place with her and generally been inspired by her and her ever-amazing level of energy. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing and my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I wanted you to know, however, that she lives on in so many of us who have become healthier and more active because of her. May you find peace and comfort.

Dear Herzog Family,

We are so very saddened by the loss of such a great lady. My husband and I took her spinning class for years. She was an inspiration not only in her class but her life as well. She spoke of her husband, kids and grandkids with love and joy. We will not forget her and her passion!!! She will be missed terribly. Wendy, Katie Jo, and Dan... There are no words or actions to express just how saddened I am by the passing of your mom into the hand's of the Lord. How I wish I could have told her just how much she inspired me to begin my lifelong journey towards health and weight loss. Had it not been for her ongoing support and love, I would not be where I am today, which is 150lbs lighter and 100% healthier. There was such a special bond between all of you and your mom that was so easily seen by all of the Centennial lifeguard family. I hope you all can find peace in knowing that your mother was loved by all and inspired each and everyone around her and that the Lord will be with you all and her alike.

My thoughts & prayers are with your family. I will always remember Jo's smile, it was contagious. I worked-out with her, worked in the office at Oakton and was a skating Mom with Jo for many years. She was a very special person. Anyone who knew her, is a better person for it. I unfortunately had not scene her for a long time, since I moved from the area many years ago. But the memory of her smile will remain......

Jo is one lady that made a DIFFERENCE in my life. She taught me that exercise could help get me through the darkest times. She was right. Surely she'll have the angels doing flex-express soon -- and loving it as much as I did.

Rise & Shine won't be the same. Jo will be missed by all of us. Jo made fitness class more than just fitness...for that 45 min. she made us all fitness nuts but we were also a family that we could share our personals...vacation and baby pictures, birthdays and GO PACKERS. In her spirit I will continue to rise and shine.

Larry, Dan, Wendy,Katie Jo & family,

Our sincerest sympathy goes to all of you. We don't have to tell you
how wonderful Jo was, because you
were a huge part of her life and know first-hand. Family was of uptmost importance to her, and she'd do anything for you.

I took Jo's aerobics classes in Park Ridge. Besides making the classes fun, she was a wonderful teacher (she encouraged my
daughter, Kathie, to become an
instructor) and friend. We also attended numerous Park Ridge Citizens Patrol functions with you.

Wherever Jo walked in, the room came alive with her presence. She always had time for everyone, sharing in their joys and sorrows - helping whenever possible. She has left a legacy and wonderful memories to help in this time of sorrow, loving memories to hold in our hearts. Forget her? Never. The impression she left is too deep.

With love,
Bill and Linnea Lindh

My memories of Jo (Mrs. Herzog) go back till I was a little girl and she would babysit me and I would play with Wendy. I have wonderful memories of her trying to teach me to teach aqua aerobics and step classes at the community center. She put so much effert into trying to get me to be a teacher. She was one of the most motivating people I knew. I just can't stop thinking of her and the entire family.

Dear Herzog family,
I, too never told Jo what an amazing, inspiring teacher she was. She inspired me to get up and exercise with her at 6am. Even though she was superprofessional, she never took herself too seriously. I will miss her. I am so sorry for your family.
