When we sat in Joe Wolff's English classes in Lewis Towers in the mid-50s, we knew we were in a University. He made us think, analyze, and understand. Ironically, it was just a week ago that we talked about Loyola's great teachers and Joe Wolff was right up at the top.
Please accept our sympathy for your loss.

Dr. Wolff was one of my favorite professors at Loyola. His breadth of knowledge and keen insights opened a whole new world for me. I also enjoyed his wry wit and his quiet but steady encouragement.
My sympathies to Dr. Wolff's family and friends on the loss of this gentle and caring man.

I was a student of Dr. Wolff's at Loyola University back in the 1970's. Although I was a business major, I still regard Dr. Wolff as one of my favorite teachers from my days at Loyola. His ability to pass on the joy of reading to his students, plus his encouragement to better one's writing skills (I'm still working on it) are things I still think of many years later. My prayers are with his family.
