For jean francois carbonnet in France, I think you may have the wrong Joseph Vukovich, our Joseph Vukovich was not in World War II but did serve in the US Army in the mid 1950's. He was not a pilot or co pilot of a B-17. He did visit Lorraine France US National Cemetary in the 1950's to visit the grave of his older brother Michael Vukovich who was killed 3 months after he landed on Omaha beach on D-Day 1944.

Grandpa was a very kind person. He always put others before himself. I will always remember going over there when i was little. We watched cartoons in the early morning. Whenever we would stay over there we would be excited when he brought us to grandmas shop because we got to look at all the cool things. I miss my grandpa very much and he will always be remembered.

Mr.Vukovich was a truly generous and kind person. He and his family helped me and my family for many years. The many wonderful words and deeds will remain in my memory forever. I learned so much from him and I am a better person for knowing him. I was truly blessed, God sent a great person into my life to teach me and care for me. I know his family is in pain right now. All I can offer is the prayer that they know how much he meant to so many people and that he would never want any of his family to be unhappy or live in pain. He truly loved his family and only wanted them to be happy. He was the best husband, father and friend that he could be. We will all miss him but he will live forever in our hearts.

I miss my Grandpa every day. I remember him hiding easter eggs way up in the tree when my brother and I were little, teaching me how to grow a garden, helping me build an awesome wagon for pilgrims for a school project. I could go on... He was always lending a helping hand to others before himself. I will miss the way him and Zach would talk so easily about police stuff or the war. And I will especially miss the way he would watch Noah playing in the house and see his eyes light up. He said to me not long ago, "He's a real good kid, yous did a good job." And I've always wanted to make my Grandpa feel proud because it was his influence in our lives that has helped to shape the person I am today. And for that I am grateful to have a litte bit of him in me. I love you Grandpa and to all my family; to Grandma, Mike, my dad; my heart goes out to you.

Dolly, Joe and Mike,
Although your grief feels overwhelming today, keep in mind in time your memories will ease the pain of yesterday. Rest assure your father will be remembered as a man of great integrity, love and kindness. And know this world was a better place to live because your father was in it.
