Joseph Shimanek Obituary

Father Joe was an extraordinary person and will never be forgotten. He accomplished so much in his life and touched so many lives including mine. I know he is at peace in heaven.

Fr. Joe has touched so many lives. He is a true reflection of Jesus. I knew Fr. Joe through Cursillo, and the first time I heard a talk from him he told us that we were an "out-house" movement, not an in house movement. He certainly was "out" in the community up until the end! I will always remember his reminder that we are all miracle workers! He surely loved unconditionally, and his life is a wonderful example to follow. Ultreya!! Mike & Mary-Beth Desmond

Father Joe was a childhood friend of us. His mother and our mother were the closest of friends. We all loved him dearly and will miss him so much. Your circle of life is now complete, eternal happiness to you Father Joe.

We will miss Fr. Joe so very much! He meant so much to both my husband & I. I could always count on him to teach, enlighten, encourage & direct us when situtaions became confusing.

I pray that God will let his Face shine upon Fr. Joe as he now celebrates his eternal life!

Dear Father Joe. You will always be the "pas-tuh". Now that all that remains of you is the love, we will try to share it with each other as best we can. Rest in well-earned peace.

Father Joe, as he was known to my

family was a life long friend to my parents Bob and Ruth Cowdrill. They were all in the wayside group in St.Francis parish in their twenty's.

As a small child I remember being put to bed in the rectory in Manhattan as the poker game continued on into the night!

Due to illnes and old age neither of my parents are able to attend Father Joe's funeral much to their dismay,as he was one of their most cherised and dearest friends.

I send my prayers for Father Joe and all those in the circle of his ministry. I remember even as a small child how proud our extended Iowa family was of him and how he made an effort to stay connected with us. May he rest in peace.

We offer our prayers on Father Joe's passing and offer our thoughts of honor and respect on his passing. He always made a point of keeping in touch with his Iowa cousins, and is well remembered.

We remember Fr. Joe with great affection,and pray for his union with all the saints, as a humble servant of God

Mom(Anna Shimanek Kramer) has had so many wonderful memories of Father Joe. She will miss him!
