Joseph John Petras my dad, was born in Lansford Pennsylvania to Michael Karl Petras and Katerina Holoska who were; proud and hardworking imigrants from Slovakia (former Czechoslovakia) in 1920. They lived in Penn, Chicago (Plisen neighborhood in the 1920's) than Michigan. Joseph lived through the depression and weathered many storms in his life. He married Mary A. Wisemiller from Cisero Illinois on, October 8th 1943, and they shared 48 wonderful years together until her passing in 1991. They resided in Chicago for most of their life, they also moved to Wisconsin than back to Chicago again and also in River Grove. Joseph spent time therafter in; Algonquin 17 years, Fox Lake, Everret Washington (a surburb of Seattle), and Woodale Illinois. He spent many happy and loving hours visitng with his; children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout his entire life. He LOVED playing cards, bowling, the Bears, Chicago Cubs, White Sox and horse racing too! He was a silkscreener by trade. He lived a full life and always had a positive mental attitude even through the toughest times.
Joe was a warm hearted person, always ready to give a hand when needed. Joe would always share his candy with his grandaughter Marie. Joe was A GREAT FATHER INLAW!
He will forever be in our hearts.

Our deepest sympathy to the Petras family.
Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a good friend and neighbor. We enjoyed his visits and warm friendly smile. He was very proud of his WW II scrap book, which his granddaughter, Marie, put together for him and shared it with us along with a few anecdotes of the time he spent in the service, during the Battle of the Bulge. We will miss you Joe, May god bless you and your family.
