Joseph R. Moffitt
Joseph R. Moffitt, 82, of Whitehall, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2005 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II, who served in the European theatre and was a recipient of a Purple Heart medal. He retired from Pipe Line Petroleum. He was a member of the Lions Club, 1963-78; board member of the Blind Association, 1965-78; board member of Lehigh-Carbon Community College, 1970-78, and also served as its president from 1972-76; participated in the Lions Club State Convention Committee, 1974-75, and was a member of the Boy Scout Committee for Troops 100 and 32, from 1969-79. Survivors: His loving wife of 59 years, Jean Poe Moffitt; two daughters, Jill, wife of Richard T. Heil and Jane, wife of Roger W. Eby; son, John and his wife, Maureen; three grandchildren, Samantha, Anastasia and Matthew; brother, Donald; sister, Eleanor Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph W. and Edna Moffitt. Services: will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements under the direction of Auer Memorial Home & Cremation Services Inc., Harrisburg. Contributions: In his memory may be sent to Lehigh Valley Hospital.
