IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO WRITE THIS. IT'S SO HARD TO BELIEVE JOE IS NOT ON THIS EARTH. BUT IN SPIRIT HE LIVES ON. HE WAS A WONDERFUL PERSON AND WAS VERY, VERY KIND TO ME AND MY FAMILY. I'VE KNOWN HIM FOR 27 YEARS THROUGH WORKING AT NICOR. I AM TRULY GOING TO MISS SEEING HIM. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN TO TAKE MY KIDS TO INDEPENDENT PAVING AND HEAR HIM PLAY THE HARMONICA. MY SON NOW WANTS TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY IT. I'M SURE HE COULD HAVE LEFT BELLWOOD AND MOVED HIS BUSINESS ELSEWHERE, BUT HE CHOSE TO STAY RIGHT THERE ALL THOSE YEARS. HE WAS VERY WELL LIKED AND KIND TO THE PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY (ESPECIALLY KIDS). THE WORLD WILL NOT SEE ANYBODY ELSE LIKE HIM EVER. HE WAS ONE OF A KIND. I AM SO SORRY I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT HIS UNTIMELY DEATH UNTIL WEEKS LATER. I DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE ATTENDED THE SERVICES. OVER THE YEARS I HAD A CHANCE TO MEET SOME MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY AND WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY. IT DEFINTELY IS A REFLECTION OF HIS LEGACY. KIND, WONDERFUL AND BEAUTIFUL. I WILL DEFINITELY KEEP HIM IN MY HEART FOREVER.......

Dear Frank and family,

I'm saddened to hear of the loss of your dad. He was a wonderful man and you've grown up to be an inspiration for him. During my operating years at Nicor I enjoyed his visits. My thoughts are with you.

December 30, 2006

Pat, Joe and George would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to all that attended our Father, Joseph S. Angelillo’s wake and funeral. It was wonderful to see old friends and meet new ones that had known out father. It was truly amazing how he had touched so many lives during his time here. Our father loved his life and all the people
he had shared it with throughout his years on this earth.

There was a moment in the hospital when he was conscious and verbal.
He was looking at the three of us standing around him and said “THANK YOU FOR BEING MY FAMILY”. What do you say to that! Our Father was one of a kind. He provided us with the opportunity to be whatever we wanted to be. To do the things we wanted to do. And to ensure that we would always be together as a family, he passed down his pride and joy, Independent Paving Co. to all of us. All he asked in return was our love. He left us speechless and/or clamoring for an appropriate response, but as always Dad got the last word in.

He was exactly the father we needed and we were exactly the family he had wished for-

Our Father left quite a legacy to follow. His shoes and the large empty hole he left behind will be hard to fill.

His spirit will live through us as we continue to live by his example. His thoughtfulness, generosity, youthful spirit and family values will live on
forever.

Dear Pat, Joe, Frank and George,
I was so sorry to learn of Joe's passing. It had been many years since I'd seen or talked with Joe, but I did have the fortune of exchanging Christmas cards with him every year. Joe's cards were always the most beautiful and always reflected the true meaning of the season. I pray that God gives strength to you and your families during this difficult time, and that all of you have the assurance of seeing your father again in eternity. This is the promise that is ours from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May God's peace be with you.
Love,

Ken Ludington
