I met Schiferl when we were stationed in Friedberg, Germany. He was my ex-husband's dear friend and John spent more than a few nights playing darts in our basement. I recently heard of John's passing and want you to know I think of him fondly and often, as I'm sure my ex-husband does too.

To John's Parents:

I first met John in December of 2005 at my brother's apartment. I never new how to play dice, but John taught me well. So well, I think I won his last pot. After that, John was interested in why I allways had radio equipment on me or in the car. I told that I was an amateur radio operator. Soon, John got "bit" by the radio bug and I gave him a radio to play with. Soon John was studying for his FCC radio license. I have tried to help others with radio theory, but everyone soon lost interest. But John, he absorbed radio theory like a sponge. He could not get enough information on radios to keep him happy. I never met a radio novice like John that could comprehend advanced topics with such ease. I sure mis John!

Dick and Nancy;

My thoughts are with you. I just read about John in the paper and am deeply saddened by the news. I feel bad that I wasn't able to support you in your time of need.

John was a great young man.

I remember John when we were kids. He was always making people laugh and was very fun loving. We had just run into each other again not that long ago, and he couldn't stop talking about his baby. To me he was still the same sweet guy with a bigger heart. He was well loved and will be missed.
