John Rooney Obituary

John was a rock and mentor.
John showed me the ropes when I moved to Chicago and started at the Chicago Sun Times.

My condolences to John's family and friends. I was in the PAR program with John and remember him as a great reporter. More importantly he is remembered as a really nice guy. My thoughts, and I am sure those of his classmates from the PAR class of 1987-88, are with you.

John was a special visitor at Loyola when his Dad and I were teaching and involved with the FoI Study Center and the years of his wonderful help with FoI luncheons and events. A reporter who carried on the family tradition of excellence. My thoughts are with the family.

I am so saddened to hear of John's passing. He was such a nice guy. I was the Chief Deputy Clerk of the Law Division for the Clerk of the Circuit Court during his time in the courthouse. We spoke often. His articles were well researched, complete and fair. I have fond memories of our conversations. My sincerest condolences to his family.
