Beloved husband of Renate (nee Kagi), loving father of Michael and Iris (Ben) Borkhuis, devoted papa of Thomas, dearest brother of Iris Rivera, fond uncle of Alexis and Bernilda. Funeral Services Friday, 10 a.m. at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Rd. (3 blks. S. of Roosevelt Rd.), Lombard, IL. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, 3 to 9 p.m. Info., 630-932-1500. Memorials may be made to Casa de los Angeles in care of Bob Signorella: Century Accounting, 1 So. 280 Summit, Oak Brook Terrace, IL. 60181.

My condolences on the death of your husband and father and my sympathies to the rest of the family and John's friends. I serve Casa de los Angeles along with Bob Signorella, John's friend, and we are very grateful to you for your support of our work. Your memorial to John is a beautiful gift.

My sincere condolences to the Rivera family on the loss of John. He was a wonderful man. A great example of living the American dream. He loved his family and was kind to anyone he met. I have great memories of him and I telling each other jokes and laughing together. Since knowing him since I was a teenager, he was a man that I had so much respect for. He's now in a better place and will be missed by all of us.
